Hiking
California's Desert Parks (Falcon Guide)
by Bill Cunningham, Polly Burke Falcon Publishing Company.
Book Description
There is no better place than California's deserts to see the raw, exposed forces of
land-shaping geology at work. The rugged terrain is crisscrossed by numerous mountain
ranges and sunken valleys where elevations change from below sea level to more than 11,000
feet. The best way to experience the desert's wilderness drama is on foot, far from
madding crowds. Hiking California's Desert Parks presents 111 of the very best hikes and
backcountry trips in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, Joshua Tree and Death
Valley national parks, and Mojave National Preserve. Information for day hikes, extended
backpack trips, or off-trail exploration is supplemented with detailed descriptions, maps,
and elevation charts. Whether you are a veteran or first-time wilderness traveler, take
Hiking California's Desert Parks on your next desert adventure.
