Article 3 of a Series. Reprinted from Bob Ulrich’s “Guide to
Attracting Buyers”
A comedian, I don’t remember which one it was, tried to explain why
he often felt uncomfortable in someone else’s home. He said the
problem was that
there was no place for “MY STUFF”
Whether they consciously think about it or not, buyers are ALWAYS
looking for places for their STUFF. Clean the interior of your home.
Arrange the furniture in an appealing fashion. Clear out the closets
and make sure your home is free of unnecessary clutter. There is a
reason why professional builders’ model homes always look bare.
Buyers see room for their stuff, and the homes sell. To sum up: Pack
up what you can and store it! If you wish to sell your home to
someone else, you have to make room for someone else's “STUFF.” If
you are unsure about what needs to be packed up, give me a call,
I’ll come over and help you sort it out!
