Article 5 of a Series. Reprinted from Bob Ulrich’s “Guide to
Attracting Buyers”
So what is your biggest cash crop? If
you are selling your home it’s the lawn in your front yard. A neatly
edged, green lawn is more important than ever in a difficult real
estate market. Taking extra care with your front yard plantings
while you’re selling your home will put extra cash in your pocket
when escrow closes.
A green tidy lawn is an eye catcher that
speaks to Buyers that this is a well maintained home. Creating a
green lawn is a challenge in this semiarid region. Fertilize and
water your lawn on a regular schedule. Remove thatch using a heavy
rake or dethatcher. Try over seeding your existing lawn with
some regular ryegrass to provide a temporary, bright green
solution while your permanent grass fills in. If you can’t do these
things yourself, consider hiring a gardener. Remember, green on your
lawn can mean more green in your pocket.
If you are unsure about what needs to
be packed up, give me a call, I’ll come over and help you sort it
out! Bob Ulrich
